ENSEMBLES
Raider Regiment Marching Band
The Raider Regiment Marching Band consists of all students who participate in the symphonic band, jazz ensemble, percussion, and color guard ensembles. The Raider Regiment meets in the fall and rehearses on every Tuesday and Thursday 4pm-7pm. Rehearsals begin when school starts in August and last through the beginning of November. With a rich history, the Raider Regiment attends Friday football games to support the football team, attends the yearly FBA Marching Music Performance Assessment, and the Christmas, MLK, and Strawberry Festival Parade every year.
Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band is designed for the development of basic fundamentals, techniques, and musicianship skills. The Symphonic Band performs quality literature and presents a winter and spring concert. Every spring the Symphonic Band participates in the yearly FBA Concert Music Performance Assessment. The Symphonic Band also collaborates with professional musicians every spring.
Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble is designed for the most advanced players at Plant City High School. The students selected for this ensemble will have a thorough
understanding of basic fundamentals, techniques, and musicianship skills. These students participate in various solo & ensemble performances and are auditioning for all-state and all-county every year.
Jazz Ensembles
The PCHS program consists of two Jazz Ensembles and Jazz Combos. The Jazz Ensembles focus on different styles and techniques within the jazz medium. The Jazz Ensembles perform at the winter and spring concert. At the end of April the Jazz Ensembles will present their yearly Jazz Night where they invite in a professional guest artist. The Jazz Ensembles also participate in yearly Jazz Festivals. The Jazz Ensembles and Combos are often asked to perform gigs around town.
Percussion
The PCHS Percussion program is a high demanding program in which students have the opportunity to not only perform with the drumline and front ensemble during marching band season, but also different concert percussion ensembles. All percussionists are enrolled in the Instrumental Techniques class where students work on the fundamentals of being a percussionist. An emphasis is placed on the development of rudimentary skills, drumline performance, concert percussion performance, and participation in percussion ensembles.
Raiderettes
The PCHS Raiderettes is the auxiliary ensemble of the Raider Regiment. This is a highly disciplined group that not only performs with the marching band in the fall, but also is a competitive ensemble that competes in the Florida Federation of Colorguards Circuit.
Individual Musicianship
Individual musical development is an essential part of the Plant City High School Instrumental Program. In addition to large ensemble performances, many students participate in Solo and Ensemble Assessments, perform in local recitals, and study privately. Numerous students are selected each year for participation in the Hillsborough County All-County Band, Tampa Bay Youth Symphony, the Patel Conservatory, and the Florida All-State Ensembles. Students are encouraged to audition for these and other honor bands that are offered around the state. At Plant City High School there are numerous chamber ensembles that are formed every year. Past ensembles such as saxophone quartets, brass choirs, and percussion ensembles have earned superiors at both district and state Solo and Ensemble Assessments.
